Top 5 Public Safety Concerns of Ordinary People

Smart cities have been a hot topic of late and I think cities would be smarter if Local, State, and Federal bureaucrats & agencies focused on these safety issues.  Public safety can be a politicized topic and the reason I have called out the concerns of "ordinary people" is because most government officials don't always focus on what really matters to most of us and often have a conflict with donations and public agency agendas.  Here are our top public safety concerns based on the search of 6,000,000+ visitors we receive on an annual basis to our public safety maps.

Map of Homeless Encampments & Shelters

We have been doing a lot of research for quality map data on homeless populations in certain areas and shelters.  The data we have found is very spotty and so we thought it would be appropriate to setup a map where this information could be crowdsourced.

We started HomelessMaps.Blogspot.com as an attempt to provide better information about homeless populations and the locations of shelters in areas.  In the maps above you can dynamically search based on census data of homeless populations.  The 2nd map is a map of homeless shelters.

If you have any information to add to this please email me at jeff@syndicatedmaps.com.

Crowdsourced Map of Homeless in California

We are interested in building a map of the homeless crisis in California.  Particularly in Los Angeles, Venice and San Francisco.  We want to plot these camps on a map so people can better understand where and why they are happening.  We have successfully launched 10+ other public safety maps that solve similar data problems.
